Las Vegas Gum Disease

Everybody knows that brushing and flossing every day is what you should do to have good dental health. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean everybody does it. Many people think brushing and flossing is a waste of time and they just don’t take the time to do it. Sometimes older people decide that they’re past the time when they can get cavities, so they stop worrying about their teeth and they just let their dental health go. People who don’t take care of their teeth and gums generally end up with Las Vegas gum disease. And that can turn out to be a very bad thing.

If you end up with Las Vegas gum disease, you won’t be alone. The staff at Moore Family Dentistry will tell you that millions of people all over the country suffer from gum disease every year. Gingivitis is probably the most common gum disease that causes problems for people. Fortunately, it’s not destructive, it’s just annoying and causes red, swollen and inflamed gums. You may have bad breath from gingivitis, and your gums will probably bleed when you brush or floss.

The good thing about gingivitis is that it can be reversed pretty easily. By simply brushing and flossing after meals to remove any bacteria that forms, you can remove the major cause of gingivitis and reverse it without needing antibiotics or other treatments from our Las Vegas dental office.

If you don’t take care of gingivitis quickly, it can turn into periodontitis, which is a destructive disease. By the time you get periodontitis you’re looking at the possibility of bone loss between your teeth. You would also be likely to have pockets forming around your teeth where bacteria would get stuck, and that would mean even more pain for you.

So before you end up with Las Vegas gum disease, call Moore Family Dentistry at 702-791-1010 for an appointment. We’ll take care of your teeth and gums and make sure your dental health is in good shape.
